Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To serve and support multi-diverse Aotearoa New Zealand disability-led artists and their communities by providing opportunities to share their strong creative voices, develop deeper understanding, and lead the production, development and delivery of their work. We honour our Hau Tipua Toi extraordinary disabled artists, Tangata Mana Whaikaha people of power, honour and presence pursuing further strength and the guiding principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi. We champion our Five Pillars of Disability Consciousness to ensure inclusive practice, educate, and inform our decision making and art making. Committed to the future of culturally diverse performance in Aotearoa, we ensure there are creative pathways for disabled artists to grow and foster their artistic abilities. Our works reflect disability aesthetics and practices that are culturally informed. We explore the intersection between disability, Māori and Pasifika cultures as a unique contribution to the arts.

Entity Structure

The day-to-day administration and management of the Trust and its work is performed by the GM and the development and delivery of the artistic programme by the ADP. Support staff are engaged for Tutors, Creative production, Communications, Outreach and Marketing and Accounting, providing skilled personnel. The GM and ADP report to the Board of Trustees. The Board are voluntary positions and board comprises 3-7 trustees, including the board chair.
