Charitable Purpose

The Trust is established to restore, maintain, protect, and enhance rivers, stream resources, wetlands, and aquifers, in Canterbury, and also in other parts of New Zealand as the trust may decide, whether on its own account or in conjunction with any other person or persons, for appreciation and recreational enjoyment by present and future generations. This includes informing and educating persons who have been or are affected by the abstraction, degradation, alteration, change, restoration, maintenance, protection, and enhancement of rivers, stream resources, wetlands and aquifers.

Entity Structure

Subject to the direction of the Trust in General Meetings, the control, management and conduct of the Trust is vested in the Board, which comprises no fewer than five nor more than eight persons, elected by members of the Trust (currently five). The trustees currently meet quarterly. The trust is a stand alone entity, but has affiliations with other like minded entities. ie those with concern for the use of water resources.
