Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The purpose of the Trust will be to advance Buddhism in NZ by the preservation, care and practice of the Buddhist philosophy, teachings and culture in line with the traditions of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism under the spiritual authority of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje and his successors and under the spiritual and practical counsel of Lama Ole Nydahl (the Main Teacher).

Entity Structure

The Diamond Way Buddhist Trust New Zealand has 3 city centres operating under its umbrella; Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch Diamond Way Centres, & additionally Glentui Retreat Centre. These centres share the same mission as the Trust & act autonomously to achieve this mission. The centres are in regular contact with each other, sharing resources, information & support. The role of the Trust is to keep in contact with the centre's activities & step in with advice & guidance if needed.
