Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To promote the mission and activity of the Church in favour of all people. (Can. 44 7) The purpose of the Conference is charitable according to the law of New Zealand in that the work of the Conference and its agencies is for the advancement of religion.

Entity Structure

Established by the Apostolic See, the NZCBC is a permanent institution and is the assembly of the Catholic Bishops of New Zealand, exercising together certain pastoral functions for Christ's faithful of their territory. (Can. 447 ) The NZCBC has registered two companies under the provisions of the Companies Act 1993. “CATHOLIC BISHOPS CONFERENCE SECURITIES LTD” and "CATHOLIC BISHOPS HOLDINGS LTD".
