Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To maintain community radio in the Kaipara area making it accessible to the public and to bring alternative ideas and entertainment to the district as well as encouraging the acquisition of skills for the provision of community radio. The station is currently hosting and instructing local school students and other local youth under the supervision of Oranga Tamariki. Relaying messages from Community organizations in regard to meetings, events, emergency advice etc. Some Community Groups using our facilities include, KDC Council, Grey Power, Alcoholics Anonymous, St John Ambulance, Local Fire Brigade just to name a few. Currently hosting a weekly segment hosted by various local church groups. Big River FM also networks with other community based radio stations, airing some of their produced programs, where it is deemed it will benefit our local listeners. The station is also live streaming, so our programming is now available to anyone world wide with device able to tune in.
