Charitable Purpose

Christian Social Services Whanganui (CSSW) operating as City Mission Whanganui has the guiding principles to do together as members of the City Mission, that which we could not do alone and to be identifiably Christian. Christian Social Services Whanganui was founded in the early 1990’s. They identified a need among disadvantaged and low income people struggling to provide the necessities of life with very little or no reserves and unable to meet the difficulties that arise in their circumstances. There are many people encountering this situation today.

Entity Structure

Christian Social Services Whanganui is a charitable trust governed by a Board made up of candidates that are elected to represent the following stakeholders - congregation, christian religious groups, community organization stakeholders, business and individual stakeholders. There are 5 paid employees; 3 at the City Mission in Park Place with a Manager, Administrator and Foodbank coordinator; 2 at the Zest for Mission shop with a Shop Manager and Retail Assistant.
