Charitable Purpose
In November 1964, Sir Jack Butland established the Butland Medical Foundation. It was established in anticipation of a School of Medicine being established at the University of Auckland. £40,000 was paid to the Trustees. The income from the investment of this capital was to be used for “the advancement of medicine both within the University and otherwise in Auckland and New Zealand generally".
