Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The purpose of the Trust is to strengthen the health and wellbeing of the whanau and hapu of Utakura by protecting, improving and preserving the quality of the local eco-system within the tribal boundary. In particular the Trust will: * Assist whanau/hapu to strengthen kaitiakitanga in the area; * Assist with ‘cleaning up’ Lake Omapere that feeds the Utakura River; * Facilitate environmental development of the Utakura River valley; * Facilitate any activity that will achieve the purpose of the Trust; * Provide environmental advocacy, facilitation, training and policy advice at local, regional and national levels.
