Charitable Purpose

To preserve the history and customs of the settlers, citizens and tangata whenua in the Huia and Waitakere Ranges Heritage Area and surrounding areas. To acquire and hold in safekeeping, articles, documents, photos and any other artifacts pertaining to the history of the area. To provide displays and exhibitions and host events for the purpose of enhancing the museum's activities. To promote education and an understanding of the history of the area. To promote, preserve, record and exhibit the natural history of the area.
