Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

Marlborough Art Gallery is a purpose-built public art gallery, co-located with Marlborough Library in Te Kahu o Waipuna building which opened in central Blenheim on 30 June 2023. The Gallery operated at Millennium Public Art Gallery from 1999 - 2023. It is governed by the Millennium Gallery Trust Board, a registered charitable trust on behalf of the Marlborough community. As well as gallery-based public programmes for various audiences, many collaborations outside the building are developed or contributed to - including regional projects teams, arts promotion, sculpture and public art and youth art installations. As a type of museum we follow the responsibilities outlined in the Museums Aotearoa Code of Ethics for Governing Bodies of Museums and Museum Staff and develop and implement practices required by relevant legislation and the NZ Museums Standards Scheme.
