Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

"To improve and maintain the best possible respiratory health for all people living in Marlborough with respiratory conditions irrespective of age or ethnicity. Serious respiratory illnesses continue to make a substantial contribution to New Zealand’s health burden. It is estimated that over 700,000 New Zealanders take medication for a respiratory condition and that respiratory diseases account for 1 in 8 of all hospitalisations in New Zealand including 23,000 admissions for children. Asthma Marlborough is committed to supporting those people in our community who have a respiratory condition. We will target our programs and initiatives to those most in need and will advocate for improved equity of care across all ethnicity.

Entity Structure

Affiliated to The Asthma and Respiratory Foundation New Zealand. Managed by a Committee comprising a President, Secretary/ Administrator, Treasurer and up to 10 committee members. Asthma Marlborough employs one part time registered nurse as a Respiratory Educator/ Administrator for 15-20 hours per week
