Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To support whānau and communities to strengthen their capacities and connectedness with knowledge and skills to improve wellbeing. Toi Tangata exists to contribute positively to the continuation of whakapapa. Our mission is to connect all communities across Aotearoa to kaupapa oranga Māori. The organisation works in ways that acknowledge the tapu, mana and whakapapa of everyone we interact with. Toi Tangata’s ultimate strategy is to enable whānau to improve physical health and wellbeing through the following objectives: Self-sufficiency (internal and external) Influence and change agency Whānau empowerment Vocational development Creativity and innovation Mātauranga Services include professional development, research and policy advice, co-design approaches to nutrition and physical activity, venture and leadership development, distance nutrition support, kai Māori recipe formulation, community education and development, and social marketing strategy.
