Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The general functions of the Raukawa District Maori Council as set out in section 18 of the empowering Act, in respect of all Maoris living in the geographical area generally described as Raukawa Moana, shall be to consider and discuss such matters as appear relevant to the social and economic advancement of the Maori race: Such other matters as set out in s.18 of the empowering Act.

Entity Structure

RDMC has quarterly meetings of its Māori Committee in February, May, August and November of each year. Between meetings decisions are taken by the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer who are elected for a three-year term. A separate committee is appointed to manage the Council's property Te Rau o te Aroha 28th Māori Battalion Memorial Hall in Palmerston North.
