Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

* To assist in meeting the needs of the community at large regarding health care in the Wakefield and Districts area. * To erect a building and fit out such building for the purposes of a community health centre for the occupation of medical practitioners, community health workers, and all others whose interest or vocation concerns community health in the Wakefield and Districts area and to operate and manage such a building to fulfil these objects. * To liaise and work in co-operation with community health agencies, local authorities, and other bodies whose primary concern is health care in the Nelson region. * To provide an appropriate standard of facilities to all those who both occupy and use the community health centre. * To use the funds of the Society as the Society may consider necessary or proper in payment of costs or other expenses in furthering or carrying out the objects of the Society including the appointment and payment of such officers, agents or service as may appear

Entity Structure

Membership shall be open to all members of the public who should apply in writing and be approved by the Management Board. The conduct and control of the business of the Society shall be vested in the Management Board which shall consist of seven members as follows:- 2/ One member appointed by he Nelson Area Health Board or its statutory successor. 3/ One member appointed by the Waimea County Council or its statutory successor. 4/ One member appointed by the practising doctors.
