Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

Preserving the History of the Victoria Battery and the discovery and processing of Gold in the Karangahake /Waihi area. Knowledgeable volunteers explain processes involved in extracting the gold from the Martha underground ore(12 million tons of ore processed over 56 years operation). Visitors are given a map to roam the 6 acre historic site and are encouraged to view the unique roasting kilns. We operate a tramway to view the site and a well presented museum.
