Purpose & Structure


Charitable Purpose

Kids’ Environment (KE) provides charitable education purposes by administering and maintaining a quality early childhood centre providing education to children under five years of age. KE caters primarily for children of staff members of the Ministry for the Environment (MfE) but is open to members of the public, if there is space available. At KE, we endeavour to provide a holistic environment which fosters positive learning outcomes for children’s learning and development. We believe that respectful and responsive relationships between infants, toddlers, young children and adults, set them on a pathway for life-long learning. Our practice is influenced by the philosophies of Emmi Pikler and Magda Gerber, where we respect children’s natural developing in a harmonious nurturing environment. At KE, we acknowledge the importance of community through our partnerships with our parents, caregivers and whanau.

Entity Structure

The Management Committee oversees the running of the Centre, is the employer for the teaching staff ensuring all legal requirements are met and that policies are current and adhered to. The Management Committee consists of both elected and non-elected positions including the Chair, Deputy Chair, Secretary, Parent Representative, Treasurer, Property Manager, Head Teacher and others as required. All members of the Management Committee (except for the Head Teacher) are volunteers.
