Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To promote and develop the social recreational, cultural, economic, educational and welfare advancement of the Tainui Awhiro people instilling an increased feeling of self-worth and a greater appreciation of Māori cultural knowledge, art and values. To organise work and educational opportunities and to create job structures and educational institutions suited to the particular needs of young people involved in the programmes. To encourage and assist in the establishment of Work Cooperatives as an alternative means of job placement. To assist with tangi and education expenses of needy members of the Tainui Awhiro people of Whaingaroa.
