Purpose & Structure


Charitable Purpose

The purpose of HDI is set out in its trust deed as follows: a) To provide humanitarian aid and relief to communities in crisis and in despair caused by political turmoil, natural disasters or widespread disease; b) To assist in the relief of poverty and alleviate suffering in communities ravaged by war or natural disasters, and to assist the underprivileged. c) To establish humanitarian relief and social support programmes in communities which are underprivileged, under-resourced and disadvantaged in under-developed and economically disadvantaged regions. d) To do all such other acts and things which are charitable within New Zealand and which the Trustees believe will be conducive to the attainment of the above mentioned objects and purposes of any of them.
