Charitable Purpose

"The Vision of the Society shall be Mä te whakapümau i te mauri me te wairua ō “Te Tai o Marokura”, ko mätou ngä kaitiaki ō ngä taonga a Tangaroa kei te arataki i te iwi hapori, ki te whakangaruru i te mōmona me te waiora ō te ähuatanga ō te Taiao, mō ngä whakatipuranga ō aianei mē ake tonu ake. By perpetuating the mauri and wairua of “Te Tai o Marokura”, we as kaitiaki of Tangaroa’s täonga are leading the community to achieve a flourishing, rich and healthy environment where opportunities abound to sustain the needs of present and future generations. 3. Objects The Objects of the Society shall be: 3.1 THE Society will comprise primarily stakeholders resident in Kaikoura and will foster a cooperative and integrated approach to achieving its objectives. 3.2 THE Society will produce an integrated strategy that incorporates Kaikoura’s coastal marine values and provides an ongoing kaitiaki role for the stakeholders.

Entity Structure

"Rule 4.6 states: THE Society shall include members covering the following interests and areas of expertise: (a) Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu; and (b) the Kaikoura community; and (c) biosecurity, conservation, education, environment, fishing, marine science, and tourism. The society does consist of members who represent the interests of Ngai Tahu, Ngati Kuri, Kaikoura Branch of Forest and Bird, CRAMAC 5, Kaikoura Boating Club, Paua MAC 3, Kaikoura Tourism, Kaikoura set netters, ....
