Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To create healthy, educational, vocational, cultural and leadership activities and opportunities as well as promoting conditions of life for the people of Te Taihauaruru and Aotearoa through Waka Hourua and any other waka related activities and programmes

Entity Structure

We have a head office based in Whatawhata, with two branches in the greater Waikato area, and one in Auckland. Our trust deed states that we may have up to nine Trustees. We currently havethree Trustees that constitute our governance board, including three executive positions: president, treasurer and secretary. We are affiliated with a national body, Nga Kaihoe o Aotearoa Inc, which provides guidance and support but does not control or in any way direct our operations.
