Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The charitable aims of The Cannons Creek Opportunity Centre Incorporated are: · to promote the social, spiritual, physical, educational and emotional welfare of the People of eastern Porirua; · to promote community life in eastern Porirua; · to provide programmes and facilities for people of all ages and cultures in line with the above; · to provide, as The Centre sees fit, facilities for any activity which would help produce revenue for the support of the programmes and facilities referred to in the above: · to own and operate, in line with the other aims, the buildings and facilities of the Cannons Creek Opportunity Centre.

Entity Structure

The Centre is directed by a Board of Management who are elected at the Annual AGM for a three year period.The members are: a) up to three persons in total nominated by the St Martin’s Presbyterian Church or its successor. b) up to five persons elected at the A.G.M; c) up to three persons whom the Board may co-opt for a finite period because of their particular skills or position;this to include one person with bookkeeping expertise to undertake the role of Treasurer within the Board.
