Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

We are historically a hapu based Marae and therefore our longevity is maintained as descendants of the Marae. Poupatate Marae represents the interests of Ngati Pikiahu Waewae hapu. We are not only a historical marae maintaining our historical customs and traditions but we are operating fully in today’s society and community being well-used by the hapu, iwi and the wider community. The Marae is also recognised and used as a Civil Defence Outpost by Horizons Regional Council, and used on a regular basis by Wananga, Universities, Schools, Kohanga Reo, Churches and many other community groups.
