Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The purposes of the Trust are as follows: 3.1. To establish an independent permanent Islamic centre and/or mosque (masjeed) in Napier in the long-term; and in meanwhile, to set up a (temporary) centre for performing congregational prayers (i.e. jamaat salaats, Jum’a salaat, and Taroweh salaats); 3.2. To develop, administer, and provide facilities needed for practicing Islam according to the Qur’an and the sunna of the Prophet Muhammad SAV (Peace be upon Him) for Muslims residing in Napier and other counties of Hawke’s Bay; 3.3. To represent Sunni Muslims residing in Napier in both religious and social-cultural spheres including various kinds of dealings, negotiation, events, programmes, festivities, etc. 3.4. To establish the mechanisms of coordination and communication among Muslim households in Napier in particular, and Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, and overseas in general
