Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To promote the DARE message, primarily in the Tairawhiti Area, by supporting education within the community for children, adolescents, parents and caregivers for the purposes of enhancing community safety; to work with the community to provide programmes in identifying and avoiding harmful activity that puts the community at risk and promotes safe life choices; to stimulate, initiate, support and co-operate with research within New Zealand; to obtain and disseminate information on any of these; and other objects as set out in the Rules.

Entity Structure

Dare Tairawhiti Incorporated (the Society) is an Incorporated Society under the Incorporated Societies Act 1908. It is an independent Society but is aligned with DARE New Zealand for guidance and programme instruction and resources. It is governed by an elected Executive Committee and contracts out its programmes to be carried out by a Co-Ordinator and Facilitators.
