Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To ensure the protection and survival of the remnant kokako population in the Manawahe area by working with DoC, landowners, regional council and volunteers to: undertake pest control, enhance kokako habitat, encourage public involvement and promote public awareness.

Entity Structure

Manawahe Kokako Trust is a charitable trust of volunteers dedicated to the protection and survival of the remnant kokako population in the Manawahe area. We have a President, Secretary/Treasurer, Volunteer Coordinator and Trapping Coordinator. We have negotiated a Biodiversity Management Plan with the Bay of Plenty Regional Council who provides most of our funding and trapping equipment. We also get funding or resources from DoC and the QEII Trust for specific projects.
