Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The Fields of Remembrance Trust was established  in 2012 to honour and remember those who served and died for our nation during World War One. During the centennial years 2014-2018 we commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice by establishing fields of White Crosses named for each of the over 18,000 individuals who gave their lives. In doing so we raise awareness in current generations and in communities of the service and sacrifice given 100 years ago.

Entity Structure

The entity is a Charitable trust that was settled by three constituent organisations being The Passchendaele Society, The Royal New Zealand Returned and Services Association, Inc., and The Auckland Returned and Services Association Inc.  Three trustees are appointed, one from each constituent organisation. The trust is managed by a board made up of the three trustees together with an independent chairman.  The board is supported by an independent treasurer and an independent administrator.

Annual Returns are due within 6 months of a charity’s balance date (financial year-end), or a longer period if an extension has been granted.
