Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The purpose of WRFA is to: 1. Comply with statutory obligations and operational standards set by the National Rural Fire Authority 2. Maintain a fire plan which details how the WRFA meets its obligations under the 4R's - reduction, readiness, response and recovery 3. Promote and carry out fire control measures 4. Provide leadership and advice to landowners and the public, and create awareness of fire threats and risks Mission - Minimise the social, economic and environmental impacts of fire in the Wellington Rural Fire District Vision - For the WRFA to be an integrated organisation that provides effective and efficient management of fire in the rural fire district.

Entity Structure

The WRFA Committee (the Committee) was constituted by NZ Gazette Notice dated 13 June 2013, No 74, pursuant to Section 8(2) of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977 (the Act). The Committee is a body corporate under the Act and is responsible for the administration of the Wellington rural fire district.
