Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

Crewed by volunteers living in the local community, our role is to respond to vegetation fires, at the request of the New Zealand Fire Service. Ruapehu Volunteer Rural Fire Force currently have around 10 volunteer members prepared to 'turnout', in response to a 'pager message' notifying us 'of 'jobs'. We are trained to deal with Vegetation fires which represent the 'greatest risk' in our local area, during the rural fire season(October - April). Being a rural service and knowing the local area as well as our crew does, we are likely to have a much better understanding of local issues and can access some equipment that assists us in dealing with fires.
