Charitable Purpose
Sistema Whangarei - Toi Akorangi is a free music education program. We use orchestral and ensemble music-making as a model for social and community development and for the empowerment of children, their whanau and wider community. Our mission is to impact the lives of children by removing barriers to participation thus creating life affirming opportunities for young people and their whanau. Our aim is to strengthen the spirit, foster the making of positive choices and provide healthy pathways for local vulnerable youth thus contributing to positive social change. This creates an environment of learning and possibility. As children engage and grow in the Sistema program, they are trained in leadership skills and Tuakana Teina providing mentorship and guidance to the new children. Music unleashes the human spirit and positively impacts lives throughout our community.
