Purpose & Structure


Charitable Purpose

The Hospice is dedicated to providing specialist palliative care, comfort and support to those who are dying as well as providing support for their families and loved ones before, during and after their death. It helps those diagnosed with a terminal illness to make the most of the time they have left, enjoy an improved quality of life and ensure that when their time comes they die peacefully and with dignity.

Entity Structure

The organisation is governed by an independent Board of Trustees. Responsibility for the day-to-day operations is entrusted to the Chief Executive Officer who is appointed by and reports to the Board of Trustees. The Hospice operates from its premises in Red Beach, Whangaparaoa and also works within the community in the homes of its patients. It additionally runs four retail shops as part of its fundraising activities.
