Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The principal aim is to collect and disseminate information of benefit to New Zealand consumers; and in doing so to advance the interests of subscribing members and all consumers. It achieves this by research, testing and investigations into matters of consumer interest and concern. It publishes the results on its website, magazine, in reports, pamphlets and other communications. In this way it promotes and advances public knowledge of consumer matters and also educates consumers of all ages.

Consumer NZ is an incorporated society governed by a board of seven, who are elected by the members as per the rules. The Consumer Foundation incorporating the Emily Carpenter Consumer Charitable Trust (known as the Consumer Foundation) requires five Trustees as per the Trust Deed.
