Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

Boomerang Bags NZ is a community initiative that make re-usable bags from unwanted fabrics and textiles. These bags are then distributed free among communities to use an alternative to plastic bags. Boomerang Bags connect communities, works with volunteers, educates, advocates behavioural change and limits the amount of plastic and textiles going into our landfill and waterways.

Entity Structure

Boomerang Bags is a community based initiative with communities all over New Zealand. Each community is run locally by lead co-ordinators who hold autonomy over the majority of decision making for their group. Boomerang Bags NZ is the parent charity based in Wellington. Boomerang Bags NZ currently has three Trustees that constitute the governance board, including two executive positions: treasurer and secretary.
