Purpose & Structure


Charitable Purpose

The Taranaki Musical Theatre Trust (TMTT) aims to promote and encourage interest and advancement of music, theatre, dance and drama within Taranaki. This includes supporting the staging of musical theatre productions and the sponsoring of educational training courses and exhibitions. For those with talent, the TMTT will provide encouragement for both career and recreational pursuits. TMTT will aim to enhance the appreciation of performing arts within the region.

Entity Structure

TMTT was established by New Plymouth Operatic Society (NPOS) and proposes to transfer its land, building, costumes and other assets to TMTT as a protection measure. TMTT will then lease back to NPOS all such assets. TMTT will also provide a revolving credit facility to NPOS to enable NPOS to fund the ongoing operation of running its annual shows. There will be no less than 4 and no more than 6 trustees at any one time.
