Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The mission of the Bird Rehabilitation Charitable Trust (“Bird Rehab”) is to rehabilitate and release New Zealand birds back into the community. To enhance the natural environment and to care for our taonga by providing a helping hand to wild birds through rehabilitation, avian welfare and education.

Entity Structure

We have a primary rehabilitation centre based in Titirangi (operating since 2016) and a network of foster homes. We work closely with Vet Clinics & animal welfare organisations and are the only after-hours avian rehabilitation organisation in Auckland. We hold a permit for rehabilitation of native and endemic birds from the Department of Conservation and support WReNNZ. Our trust deed states that we have between three and five Trustees including a chairperson, treasurer and secretary.
