Charitable Purpose

Hinemaurea Marae is the cultural bastion for the hapu of Te Whanau o Tuwhakairiora and Te Whanau o Te Aotaki. A place to gather, to commune, to mourn, to seek refuge and to celebrate all the many whanau who whakapapa to the hapu. A place where Te Reo o Ngati Porou me ona Tikanga is practised, learnt, developed and celebrated. A place where our manuhiri feel welcome.

Hinemaurea Marae is a marae on Māori Reservation Land. The Māori Reservation Regulations 1994 require that where a reservation is a marae the trustees of the reservation shall draw up, in agreement with the beneficiaries of the marae, a charter for the reservation. A copy of the Hinemaurea Marae Charter is published below. This Charter is not a part of the marae's formal rules as required under s17(1)(c) of the Charities Act 2005.
