Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The Trust was originally established to: • Protect preserve and enhance tangata whenau, mana whenua and mana moana in Matapouri • Identify and advance the aspirations of the Hapu. • Develop and promote any initiative that improves and enriches the wellbeing of the Hapu, the wider community within Matapouri, the people of the Tutukaka Coast and Maori in general.

Entity Structure

The Trust consists of 11 officers nominated and elected by the Hapu. Each officer volunteers his or her time and skills to supporting and fulfilling the various projects undertaken by the Trust. They remain on the Trust for a term of 3 years at which point they can stand again for re-election if they are nominated.
