Purpose & Structure


Charitable Purpose

SKGF’s vision is to create personal food self-sufficiency in our food secure community. SKGF aims to be recognised as a leader in New Zealand for driving change through a mixed-model approach to achieve this. Kai Assist is our crisis response programme providing kai to those in our community experiencing food insecurity. Kai Grow is all about supporting our community through gardens, and all things dirt. We work with the local community to make the most of private and public spaces for growing kai. This includes education around what to grow and when, how to raise seedling as well as the creation of market and urban gardens. Kai Learn is South Kaipara Good Food’s educational programme aimed at filling people’s knowledge kete. Kai Rescue works alongside suppliers, producers and organisations to recover usasable/consumable goods. Mihirau Greenhouse Development - grow seedlings for distribution to the wider community, including clients, 'grow a row' and 'homegrown' programmes.
