Charitable Purpose

Our Mission is to improve Maternity outcomes through reclaiming Matauranga Māori Birth Practices. We aim to support whānau, Iwi and Hapū to access and engage in these services. We aim to provide resources that promote connection to whenua, tīpuna and whakapapa of wāhine hapū and whānau. We are dedicated to researching Kahungunu cultural resources of pūrākau and ngā Toi, with a commitment to sharing this knowledge to support Māori Midwives, Māori Students and whānau during Hapūtanga.

Entity Structure

We are based in Kahungunu. Our Trust Deed allows us to operate and govern with our five Trustees inclusive of our Chairperson and Secretary We have historical connections with a National Board, but have established our own Independent Regional Rōhē. This allows us to act independently on interests more locally, being more operationally effective at achieving our Goals.
