The Maniapoto Maara Kai Roopa (MMKR) Trust was formed as a non-profit organisation during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 and is based in Te Kuiti. The Maara was created with the goal of feeding the community. The MMKR Trust was formed to support the Maara. In 2 years, the Maara has grown and distributed over 4 tonnes of food to the community – the 2 food banks, the women’s refuge, and the retirement home.
