Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

Our vision: reduced poverty among rural Ugandans. Our mission: To uplift farmers of Uganda out of poverty through mentorship, education and growth of farming businesses. We pair Kiwi farmers with Ugandan farmers who live in some of the poorest conditions in the world. Through our online mentoring programme and the donation of improved farming technology, farmers in Uganda are enabled to grow their farming businesses and lift their families out of poverty.

Entity Structure

Farmers As One will initially be led by the two founding officers- Sophie and Bridget Pye who will work voluntarily to launch the charitable organisation. Alongside Sophie and Bridget, Joseph Taremwa, a Ugandan agricultural advisor, will support the work on-ground in Uganda. As set out in our constitution and rules, we will have between two and six officers with the eventual goal of forming a trust and board of governors made up of key agricultural figures in New Zealand once underway.

Annual Returns

Annual Returns are due within 6 months of a charity’s balance date (financial year-end), or a longer period if an extension has been granted.

Note: Charities that use the Tier 4 Combined Form to file their annual returns do not need to file their financial statements separately. The financial statements are included in their annual return summary.
