Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

Our purpose is to relieve poverty, hunger, sickness or the ravages of war or natural disaster in developing countries, particularly during a global emergency. Using one clear voice to the public, we make it easy for donors to decide how to help. By working together we can raise more money and improve efficiency and impact. Our members uphold the highest standards of accountability and transparency and are committed to learning and sharing information to enable a better response. Emergency Alliance regularly champions the benefit of collaboration of the humanitarian sector to various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and to news media.

Annual Returns

Annual Returns are due within 6 months of a charity’s balance date (financial year-end), or a longer period if an extension has been granted.

Note: Charities that use the Tier 4 Combined Form to file their annual returns do not need to file their financial statements separately. The financial statements are included in their annual return summary.
