Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

The Rongoā Collective exists to reclaim, uphold, and advance the tikanga of rongoā Māori, ensuring it remains a living, safe, and flourishing practice within the rohe of the Ā.R.T Confederation. Our purpose is to support the health and wellbeing of whānau and communities by: Protecting and promoting rongoā as a taonga tuku iho (a treasure handed down intergenerationally). Providing education, training, and mentoring (awhi tauira, tuakana–teina) to develop new practitioners and ensure safe practice. Supporting community wellbeing through rongoā, holistic healing, and connection to te taiao (the natural world). Strengthening cultural knowledge, mana whenua, and ahi kā to uphold indigenous identity and succession. Creating safe, accountable, and transparent structures that maintain integrity and depth in practice. Through these activities, the Collective contributes to the advancement of health, the preservation of Māori culture, and the benefit of the wider community.
