Charitable Purpose

The purpose of the Rōpū is to receive, use and administer the Rōpū's Funds exclusively for Charitable Purposes. The Rangitāne o Manawatu Investment Trust was set up to manage and invest the assets of Rangitāne o Manawatu Trust arising from the Treaty of Waitangi settlement with the Rangitāne o Manawatu Iwi. The qualifying entities that distributions may be made include trusts and subsidiaries related to Rangitāne o Manawatu.

Entity Structure

The Rangitane o Manawatu Investment Trust (RoMIT) acts as the commercial arm of Rangitane o Manawatu. The Rōpū incorporates entities which RoMIT has control or direct influence over. RoMIT's Deed requires at least 3 trustees and no more than 5 trustees be appointed at one time - of which 2 trustees must be members of Rangitāne o Manawatu. The Trust currently has 3 trustees, who also act as the board members. The Settlors of the Trust are the Trustees of Rangitāne o Manawatu Settlement Trust.
