Charitable Purpose

The Ocean Regeneration Aotearoa Group is advancing New Zealand's marine sector through innovative, sustainable, and community-focused initiatives. Its mission is to develop high-value, scalable ocean-based industries, including seaweed cultivation, scallop farming and restoration, and generating revenue from marine restoration ventures. It does this by promoting commercial regenerative ocean farming practices that restore marine ecosystems, enhance climate resilience, and support biodiversity. The Group is committed to building robust end-to-end supply chains, fostering meaningful Māori and community participation, creating regional employment opportunities, and promoting education, innovation, and responsible stewardship of the marine environment.

The Ocean Regeneration Aotearoa Trust is a charitable trust that was established on 15 February 2023. It wholly owns / owned the charitable companies Greenwave NZ Research Limited and Kinanomics NZ Research Limited (now liquidated). Together they reported as the Ocean Regeneration Aotearoa Group for 31 March 2025.
