Purpose & Structure


Charitable Purpose

To encourage the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual development of young people so that they may take a constructive place in society. The method of achieving this aim is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law and guided by adult leadership. The principles and practice of the Association are founded on the Scout Promise and the Scout Law.

Entity Structure

The Scout Association of New Zealand was incorporated by The Scout Association of New Zealand Act, 1956, and is the only official Scout Association in New Zealand. The control of the Scout movement in all its activities in New Zealand shall be vested in the Corporation.
