Purpose & Structure


Charitable Purpose

To support and complement existing palliative care providers and to meet palliative care needs in Mid Canterbury. To create facilities and services that will enhance the work of the Trust. To support the needs of those in palliative care and also their family, friends and carers. To receive funds that will be used for the principles and purposes of the Trust. To promote the work of the Trust to the community of Mid Canterbury.

Entity Structure

Hospice Mid Canterbury is a Charitable Trust governed by its board of trustees. The Trust Deed specifies that the board is to be comprised of no less five and no more than fifteen Trustees. The Trustees will elect their own chairperson. A secretary and treasurer will also be appointed. Office bearers will be appointed at the AGM. The board employs contractors to perform certain specialist services and relies on a large number of volunteers to help fulfil the Trust's purposes.
