Purpose & Structure

Charitable Purpose

To raise public awareness of the bone condition Osteoporosis and to support people who suffer from Osteoporosis. Objectives:- To be a support group for sufferers of Osteoporosis To promote to the public and to sufferers information about detection,treatment and prevention of Osteoporosis. To communicate with health professionals,in particular general Practitioners,Practice Nurses and nursing staff of Rest Homes. To advocate to public health sector resources in our area. To develop an active collaborative and productive relationship with Osteoporosis NZ.

Osteoporosis Society of Canterbury Incorporated is an organisation of Members who elect a committee comprised of the Chairperson, Secretary,Treasurer and at least three other Members at the Annual General Meeting. A formal Constitution has been adopted setting out the rules which govern the Society including rules covering meetings,changes of rules and winding up procedures. A new rule (adopted at a Special Meeting 18 February 2008) as Rule 12 covers the issue of "Private Profit" payments.
