Purpose & Structure


Charitable Purpose

The Group's primary health purposes are (1) to provide and promote qualitative professional standards and education for all New Zealand Midwives; and (2) advocate for the midwifery profession as a key voice for midwives and women alike. Our activities are structured to provide public benefit through strengthening maternity health and wellbeing and related outcomes, by supporting the midwifery and maternity services sector with clinical and professional education, research and digital support.

Entity Structure

The Group have Head Offices based in Christchurch, and operates a network of regional committees across New Zealand, whom represent their local Members. The College (Parent) is governed by a National Board whom convene quarterly to review both the charitable objectives as well as monitoring progress on strategic initiatives as part of the overall business plan. The College has a representative on the subsidiary's Board, overseeing their operations, ensuring compliance and business continuity.
